2009 December26:Winter Seminar The winter seminar was held with Hayashi-Kato Lab. M2 and B4 students of our laboratory reported their study's progress and got some advice. December 21:Laboratory's year-end party was held
December 2:3rd Symposium of Japan Society of Traffic Engineering (JSTE) The 3rd symposium of JSTE with the theme of road design and planning load design and planning was held in Nagoya. Prof.Nakamura lectured how to design the road structure with satisfying level of service.
November 27:The presentation meeting of laboratory's introduction of Chubu branch to City Planning Institute of Japan Ms.Goto (B4) and Mr.Kakimoto (B3) joined the presentation meeting of laboratory's introduction which was held in Nagoya Urban Institute. Ms.Goto introduced current major research topics and daily life in our lab. November 18 : Mr. Wael and Prof. Nakamura got Yasoshima Yoshinosuke Prize at 8th EASTS The paper of Mr. Wael Alhajyaseen (D3) and Prof. Nakamura (Subject: "Estimating the Minimum Required Width of Signalized Crosswalks Considering Bi-directional Pedestrian Flow and Different Age Groups") got "Yasoshima Yoshinosuke Prize" at the 8th Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS) on Surabaya (Indonesia).
October 30 : CART - The prize of Research and Development for Excellent technology Prof. Nakamura was awarded the prize of Research and Development for Excellent technology from COMMITTEE ON ADVANCED ROAD TECHNOLOGY(CART). Prof. Nakamura awarded the plaque of the prize of 優秀技術研究開発 of CART. October 17 : Welcome Party for New Comers Welcome party for new comers was held. New members are Assistant Prof. Asano, four foreign students and a short-term student from Darmstadt University of Technology (TUD). October 4 - 14 : The seminar with Darmstadt University of Technology (TUD) at Waldemar-Petersen-haus, Kleinwalsertal. The seminar with Darmstadt University of Technology (TUD) was held at Waldemar-Petersen-haus, Kleinwalsertal.
September 16 - 19 : The 2nd Demonstration Experiment of Roundabout at The Test Road of Civil Engineering Research Institute for Cold Region. Prof. Nakamura, Mr. Yoshioka(M2) and Ms. Goto(B4) attended the 2nd Demonstration Experiment of Roundabout with Civil Engineering Research Institute for Cold Region.
September 11 : Mr. Wael Alhajyaseen won "Best Paper Award". At the JSCE-sponsored 11th International Summer Symposium, Mr. Wael Alhajyaseen won "Best Paper Award". September 4 : Prof. Nakamura appeared on the TV. Prof. Nakamura appeared on the TV program "The Incident Congestion of Highway" in "Kansai Nesshisen" which was broadcast on NHK at September 4. The topic was the effect of the price-reduction of the fee of highway on congestions and accidents. August 25 - 27 : Graduate School Examination August 5 - 8 : Summer Seminar at Shima-city We held Summer Seminar at Shima-city of four days and three nights.
August 1 : Mid-term presentation with Hayashi and Kato Laboratory Our laboratory and Hayashi and Kato Laboratory held Mid-term presentation communally. July 29 - 30 The Demonstration Experiment of Roundabout at The Test Road of Civil Engineering Research Institute for Cold Region. We held the demonstration experiment of Roundabout with Civil Engineering Research institute for Cold Region as part of the project of International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS). June 13 - 14 : The Conference on Civil Planning Research at Tokushima University Our members, Mr. Suzuki, Mr. Wael(D3), Mr. Ma(D2), Mr. Yoshioka(M2), Mr. Hayakawa(M1), Mr. Kobayashi(M1) attended the Conference on Civil Planning Research at Tokushima University. May 27 : Dr.Inano and Dr. Utsumi won "Thesis Prize of Road and Transportation" of Express Highway Research Foundation of Japan. The OB of our lab, Dr. Inano and Dr. Utsumi won "Thesis Prize of Road and Transportation" of Express Highway Research Foundation of Japan. May 20 : Mid-term presentation(M2) and Mid-term examination(D2) Yamamoto lab and our lab held Mid-term presentation. After that, Mid-term examination of Mr. Ma was held. April 18 : Welcome Party for New Comers We held a welcome party for the new comers, Mr. Osawa(B4), Ms. Goto(B4) and Mr. Iwakawa(M1). March 25 : Graduation ceremony, Thanks and Goodbye party Four students graduated from our lab. Congratulations on your graduation. The middle of March : Our lab moved Our lab move to the 2nd floor. March 3 : The conference ofJSCE Chubu branch @ Meijo University Our members, Mr. Ishiguro(M2), Mr. Hayakawa(B4) and Mr. Kobayashi(B4) attended the conference of JSCE Chubu branch at Meijo University. February 23 : The public hearing of Mr. Babak Mehran The public hearing of Mr. Babak Mehran (Subject : Application of Travel Time Reliability Analysis for Assessing Operational Planning on Expressways) was held. February 12 - 13 : Thesis Defense of Master Course Students After the presentations of undergraduate students, the public presentation of Mr. Ishiguro was held. February 10 : Thesis Defense of Undergraduate Students The final thesis presentations of Mr. Hayakawa and Mr. Kobayashi were held. Mr. Hayakawa presentation title was "A Study on the Interrelationship between Mobility and Access Functions on Arterial Streets" while Mr. Kobayashi was presentation title was "A Study on the Level of Installing Passing Lane for Two-Lane Highways". January 11 - 15 : 88th TRB Annual Meeting Professor Nakamura, Mr. Babak(D3) and Mr. Wael (D2) attended the Transportation Research Board 88th Annual Meeting in Washington DC, USA. Mr. Babak presentation given a presentation titled as "Methodology for Assessing Impacts of Congestion Relief Schemes on Travel Time Reliability" while Mr. Wael presented a poster which was title as "A Methodology for Modeling Pedestrian Platoon Discharge and Crossing Times at Signalized Crosswalks". During their presentations, they received many precious comments, and they communicated with many researchers from different universities around the world.
